Education |
I graduated from Rutgers College of Engineering in 1992. After working in bridge design and construction for several years, I made the change to teaching. I have been teaching at Northern Highlands since 1999. I have taught every level of physics as well as Algebra. I earned a Masters in Educational Technology from Ramapo College in 2002. I was also a table reader during the 2021 AP Physics 1 reading.

Personal Statement |
My goal is to encourage students to reach their fullest potential. I believe in the Growth Mindset and am a firm believer that through GRIT (Giving your all, Redo if necessary, Ignore giving up, Take time to do it right), they can achieve this. I will encourage them to exercise their brains and build new neural pathways - In order for this to happen, they will have to take risks - that means making mistakes and hopefully learning from them. I will encourage them to ask questions but will respond with more questions - I believe that they can figure it out, given enough time and the right questions. Frustration is inevitable when you learn something important.

Course Goals |
According to the National Science Education Standards (NRC, 1996), scientific literacy is defined as, "the knowledge and understanding of scientific concepts and processes required for personal decision making, participation in civic and cultural affairs, and economic productivity"
Students will apply the CER (Claim, Evidence, Reasoning) structure in defending scientific claims. Students will learn the basic physics behind Climate Change, Earth and Space Science and Technology. Through that understanding, students will have the tools necessary to make informed decisions and hopefully enact change.
