Why Portfolios?
Portfolios give you an opportunity to creatively share your ideas, evidence, and reflections. Your portfolio has the potential to provide a richer and more authentic representation of work and growth in any course. Be creative in displaying your best works while infusing your interests and personality :)
All about me
This section should provide me and others with a sense of who you are as a student, scientist, and a person. It should include information about your hobbies, family, sports/clubs you are involved in, important people in your life, favorite things etc. You should also include a personal statement, and course goals in a creative format of your choosing. |
Reflection Entry
After each unit you will take time to reflect on your learning and growth. For example, What skills/concepts were challenging? How did you overcome these challenges? Areas of strengths and mastery? Connections between disciplines and real life applications? |
Units
Unit submissions will vary, but will always include the Reflection Entry. You should also include the following: problem sets with explanations, lab and/or engineering activities, and related media. Pictures of student work will enhance and beautify your portfolio Units in Geophysics: 0-Intro to Science 1-Climate 2-Earth 3-Space 4-Technology |
Current Events
Occasionally, you will be assigned an article or you will choose a science article from a recent newspaper, magazine or website and summarize. You must include the science toolkit with your summary |
