Students have been working with partners all week to gain a better understanding of the material learned in Chapter 2. Here is a link to check your understanding. Here are some websites that you may want to look at for review
Physics Classroom APlus Physics Khan Academy GPB Education Study guide for test
We will be having a test on Chapter 2 on Friday, November 20. We will be playing Kahoot next week to review. Please see the links below: Balanced or Unbalanced Free Fall Position time graphs Velocity time graphs Over the next few weeks, we will be studying graphs of motion. Here is a great presentation for you to review. Kinematics
Students had their first unit test last week. The test was reviewed and students were told that they could earn points back on the test if
1. They came in to review the areas of difficulty 2. Took a quiz on the material by October 28th. We are currently in Chapter 2 of the text. This is a review of Newton's Laws of Motion as well as graphs of motion. This week, students performed a lab using a ticker tape timer and a constant motion vehicle. Data analysis was performed during class and the lab write up is due on the next lab day. Great Website to review graphs: Students will also be working on a "Current Events Blog" which will be a part of their Digital Portfolio (Weebly). This assignment was shared in their google drive and is due November 4. This week we learned about the difference between precision and accuracy. We also talked about significant figures and how to record a measurement to the proper precision. Watch this video for more review.
We also wrote up the Helicopter Lab and worked with identifying Independent and Dependent Variables. We also worked with Identifying Independent and Dependent Variable Some websites for review: http://www.quia.com/pop/563661.html http://www.ixl.com/math/algebra-1/identify-independent-and-dependent-variables This week students continued working on their digital portfolios. They also spent some time working on the "Fact or Myth" assignment. The assignment is due Monday, October 5. For the "Fact or Myth" assignment, link your sources throughout your write up and in your work cited page. You can use EASYBIB to easily make citations. If you need assistance using in text citations, please refer here Labs began this week! Unfortunately the weather did not permit us to go outside, so we did a helicopter lab instead. Students worked with independent and dependent variables. We also discussed the need for controls in a lab investigation, how to use measuring devices and recording values to the proper precision. The difference between precision and accuracy was also discussed.
We worked on metric conversions, scientific notation and using a calculator for numbers in scientific notation. We will be playing Kahoot
Students also worked on their WEEBLY page and were assigned "Fact or Myth" American Chopper (Funny video) |
